The Square Shopping Centre opened in 1990, and was, at the time, Ireland’s biggest and most modern shopping centre. It contains over 160 different shops, on three levels. As well as shops there are restaurants, cafes, an oratory and a cinema complex. It is situated in the heart of Tallaght, near the Garda station, the Luas, the County Council offices, the Civic Theatre and Tallaght Library. About 3,500 people work in the centre, and about 18,000,000 visitors come in an average year.
